Write You - Life After 'Larry' - How Our Backyard Wildlife Fared After The Cyclone
Cyclone 'Larry' crossed the Queensland coast on 20th of March this year (2006) just when Northerners were beginning to think the Wet season would end without a proper monsoon and its much-needed rain. We got rain alright but it rode in on winds of up to 294 kph (see footnote) that demolished According to USFDA, a combination product is one composed of any combination of a drug and device; biological product and device; drug and biological product much of the small town of Innisfail, 96kms south of Cairns. That there was no loss of human life is down to the customary mix of the Australian character and pure Luck. The world media has covered many of the stories of human courage, kindness and reorganisation in the wake of the de ; or drug, device, and biological product and fixed dose combination would include two or more combinations of drug. Examples of combination products may in truction of homes, farms and infrastructure in Innisfail and the surrounding region. My own area was spared anything worse than some inconvenience. We only lost electricity, town water, phone and gas supply for a few days. We faced the very big cleanup job of clearing fallen branches lude drug-coated devices, drugs packaged with delivery devices in medical kits, and drugs and devices packaged separately but intended to be used together. and leaves stripped from the rainforest belt that makes our backyard such a haven for wildlife. Nothing to compare with the troubles Innisfail had to overcome. Throughout the areas where the winds travelled, swathes of dead trees changed the green hillsides to brown within days. Seen from o here is enormous increase in the number of combination products entering the market in the recent years. Combination products have proven advantages but fixe r backyard deck, the hills across the harbour blushed pink at sunset. Within days, the bushfires started. Gorging on that mass of fire-ready fuel, they made a spectacular sight after dark. No one can guess how many trees burned during the cyclone and its aftermath of fire. Then, the d dose combinations are still in the process of convincing regulatory authority on their advantages over the single ingredient formulations. Combination pro ever-ending miracle of Nature. Each morning, I saw the leaf-bare, broken-tipped branches extend tiny twigs that quickly grew a feathery cover of deep pink gumtips. These new leaflets glowed red when the morning sun shone through them.In short order, the budding leaves re-gained their ucts have become life saving products for the pharmaceutical companies who doesn’t have many innovative molecules in their product pipeline and have been inc normal shape and colours. And the birds returned. Well, most of them did. Missing-in-action was the alpha male Kookaburra we call 'Old Dad.' The matriarch we call 'Big Mama' came to the feeding perch only a few times before she too vanished. The remaining members of the clan easingly used in the product life cycle management. Even the companies having product patents are trying to extend their product life cycle through the combi were juveniles from the current hatching and competent 'helper' birds from the previous season. All were clearly rattled by the sudden changes in their community and in their environment. Over the next few weeks, they had many border disputes with other birds (probably displaced by the storm) nation products and maximize the revenues. But the companies involved in this practice are overlooking that they are burdening the patients both economically that tried to invade their patch. Among the immigrants was a group of fifteen Pied Currawongs - considered a pest in southern parts of the State - and never before observed in our place. At first quite daring, they would stage mass fly-pasts when 'our' Kookaburras were resting on their 'Gos and physically. They need to rightly judge the benefits of the combination products and they have to even look at the risks involved when combining the produ ip' tree after feeding from the benches. The Kookas had merely to turn those great beaks towards the interlopers to send them scrambling.Three weeks of this disdain was enough to teach the Currawong crowd to keep its distance in a neighbouring tree but they still seemed unsettled. One day as ts. Some of the combination products were well accepted by physicians while others suffered. Constantly changing position from branch to branch, they put on a choral performance of surprisingly subtle variations on a lovely melodic theme. For all I know, they ma ding difficulty in defining their combination products and facing various challenges from selecting a combination to marketing it. Following aspects would a y have been telling me to Get Lost. But I considered their performance a gift of beauty and it remains a treasured memory. The next day,the group had vanished and has not been sighted since. Several Kookaburra clans hold territories scattered across the valley below our house and in t dd to the challenges in developing combination products: Which markets to tap where the combination products can do fairly well? After this old pair went missing, their remaining offspring exhibited a dramatic change in behaviour. We humans waited anxiously to see if cts are meaningful and rational? As is the way of Kookaburras, the female is usually larger and, if getting ready to breed, is hungrier than the males. Only two mature males are left in this group and the new Queen teased and tested them remorselessly. One f t? Suddenly he took off, brushing my hair with his wingtips. He had spotted a tiny lizard on the floor of the swimming pool, still empty after the cyclone. With the tasty morsel dangling from his beak, he landed beside the female and set up a raucous cackling in .
